Manhole covers in Japan

Público’s P3 reports on the historical, aesthetic and heritage value of manhole covers in Japan. With illustrations alluding to Japanese culture, the covers are not only a curious element in the urban landscape, but are also a collector’s item. Whenever they are replaced, these objects are sold to fervent collectors.
