The Beat Diaspora (2022) | Documentary Series

Synopsis: “The Beat Diaspora seeks to understand how drum beats born in Africa spread throughout the diaspora, modernized technologically, and live in constant feedback between different Afro-diasporic communities. This peripheral electronic music is responsible for real transformations in the realities of these communities scattered throughout the Americas and Africa.

Created by Coy Freitas, this original YouTube production is produced by MyMama Entertainment in co-production with KondZilla, executive produced by Mayra Faour Auad, Konrad Dantas, and Coy Freitas, and curated by Chico Dub and Dago Donato. The series had five directors: Tico Fernandes, Roguan (Roberto Andreoli, who directed two episodes), Carol Lima, Bruno Zambelli, and Joyce Prado, with cinematography by award-winning photographer and director Urso Morto. The scripts are written by Juliana Borges and Joyce Prado, and the executive producer is João da Terra.
