Notas do Quotidiano 5 [Daily Notes 5] – Fragmentos do urbano [Fragments of the urban]
In the fifth volume of the “Notas do Quotidiano” [Daily Notes] series, Passeio presents “Fragmentos do urbano” [Framents of the urban], a book that brings together a collection of short essays published in our Gallery between 2020 and 2025. In this collection of fragments, Passeio proposes a careful look at the complexity of contemporary city life, observed and marked by the fragmentation of spaces and the plurality of experiences that unfold within them. From different perspectives, the work highlights objects, practices, and marks inscribed in public space, revealing the memories, actions, repetitions, and meanings that emerge in the seemingly ordinary. By adopting the fragmentary as an epistemological and methodological horizon, the book constructs a critical and sensitive mosaic that invites us to think of the city not as a stable unit, but as a dynamic set of collages, overlaps, and stitches (or ruptures) in constant reinvention.
The book consists of micro-essays by the following authors: Helena Pires, Zara Pinto-Coelho, Lucas Novais, Marinos Koutsomichalis, Teresa Lima, Catarina Bessa Rodrigues, Cynthia Luderer, Pedro Eduardo Ribeiro, João Sarmento, Carlos Norton, Abílio Almeida, Vinicius Zuanazzi, Francisco Mesquita, Teresa Toldy, Ana “Muska” Castro, and José Vicente “Coda” dos Santos.
The book is available, in Portuguese and in open access, here at Passeio and at the University of Minho repository.
