GEAP-Brasil (Brazil’s Street Art Research Group) | Platform

Abstract: “GEAP-Brasil (Brazil’s Street Art Research Group) is an interdisciplinary collective of researchers dedicated to the analysis, critical reflection and dissemination of artistic practices inserted in the Brazilian urban space. Its focus covers various expressions of public and urban art, including contemporary artistic actions and interventions. The group seeks to promote studies that consider the multiple historical layers that make up the urban imaginary, addressing different periods, practices, methods, discourses and spaces, in order to contemplate both the past and the present of these artistic creations.

Composed of scholars from different Brazilian states, GEAP-Brasil aims to bring together, discuss and update theoretical research and practical proposals through systematic scientific events open to the interested public. It also promotes publications and scientific and cultural events that generate tacit, technical and cultural knowledge for the community inside and outside the academic environment. The group is linked to the CNPq-certified research group format and emerged from the Grupo de Estudios sobre Arte Público en Latinoamérica (GEAP LA), created in 2008 and based in Buenos Aires.”
