“Comércio informal e cidade: estudo de caso das zungueiras em Luanda, Angola (2022)” [Informal trading and the city: a case study of the zungueiras in Luanda, Angola] by Áurea Bianca Vasconcelos André | Master Thesis
Abstract: “This dissertation aims to investigate the informal trade of zungueiras in Luanda, Angola, considered from its colonial roots, in the contemporary context, in which the state acts as a repressor. Focusing on urban transformations that seek a post-colonial modern city, this posture seeks to insert Luanda into the standards of a globalized city, in contradiction to its characteristics that bring it closer to the Global South. Concepts such as inferior and superior circuits, popular knowledge and Epistemologies of the South support the investigation, which is intended to contribute to debates on the possibilities of understanding the insertion of the informal market, as an inspiration for future urban public policies and more inclusive Angolan trade laws, considering these communities as a cultural landscape.”
