Arte(s) urbana(s)

The book Arte(s) Urbana(s), written by Ricardo Campos, an anthropologist, and by the art historian, Sílvia Câmara, seeks to understand the artistic movement that has had increasing visibility in the city since the beginning of the millennium.

“Visual urban art can be understood from an ancient lineage of pictorial manifestations present in the urban public space. Thus, this phenomenon is related to a large family of techniques and plastic expressions and definitely deserves the attention of the academy. And, in fact, it has attracted the attention of researchers from very diverse scientific areas, being debated from the perspective of architecture, geography, urban studies, art history, sociology, anthropology, among other disciplines”.

The book, available in Portuguese language, can be read here.
