Third bank of the city: the experience of street people

“Starting from ethnographic experiences lived with two interlocutors who make the streets of the city of São Paulo their homes (Claudemir, located on the famous Rua Augusta e Zé, which was established around of the Santo Amaro Metro), this article aims to foster the debate on the singularities of ethnographic practice in the universe of streets. Using a Foucaultian theoretical analysis perspective, linked to the contributions of Walter Benjamin and Georg Simmel, the analysis emphasizes the different possibilities of perceiving these lives in other keys that are not only linked to repression, repairing the subjects in question not in the margins of society, but in a kind of “third bank” of the city”.
