Cities and diverCities – experiences with images in urban spaces in history and contemporaneity

Editorial note:

Volume 18, number 1, of the journal Teoria e Cultura addresses the instigating theme of image production and its contribution to the process of city formation. The collection presents elements for an original and expanded reflection on urban space. Organized by Caterine Reginensi (UENF), Mariana Cunha Pereira (UFRR) and Rubia-Mar Nunes Pinto (UFG), the issue Cities and diverCities – experiences with images in urban spaces in history and contemporaneity is a unique opportunity to understand anthropological and sociological aspects of the relationship between space, city, arts, memory and culture. In the Articles section of the journal’s continuous flow, four excellent contributions make up this issue: an article on the relationship between ontologies and the left in anthropology, a debate on ethnographic work during the pandemic, an ethnographic analysis of the construction of subjectivities on social networks and an article on the relationship between ontologies and the left in anthropology, and, finally, a discussion on the concept of capitalist realism in the work of Mark Fisher. We also have a great review of John Dryzek and Jonathan Pickering’s The politics of the Anthropocene.
