Allégorie citadine [An Urban Allegory] (2024) by Alice Rohrwacher & JR
Synopsis: “Enchanted by the curious gaze of a child, An Urban Allegory is the essence of Alice Rohrwacher. Together with street artist JR, the filmmaker puts together a kaleidoscopic and playful vision of art, tracing how it moves across the stage of magical light and seductive shadow that we call the world.”
In this 21-minute short film, directed by Italian director Alice Rohrwacher and French visual artist JR, we are introduced to a ballerina who is late for the audition of a piece based on Plato’s allegory of the cave. The story is located in Paris, with the ballerina being accompanied by her 7-year-old daughter, and while she begs the security guard to allow her in to perform her test, the child observes the city, in a game of art, kaleidoscopic images, light and shadows.
The short is available on the MUBI platform.
