FROM PORTo TO PORTo – THE CORNERS

Passing by the street corners of my city, where lost souls walk in silence, I come across a woman and a child, inert, with that empty, hungry look in their eyes. I see them on every street corner, feeling the guilt of a society that has failed them miserably. There is no present for them, only the past and the future meeting, just around the corner, surprised and trying to understand what unites them. Maybe it’s the look of hunger, maybe it’s just emptiness.

In my city there are corners that multiply in the crowd of people passing through. They are prominent corners, the corners of money, living symbols of societies in (de)construction. Presences of a prevailing power that intoxicates and dazzles us. Banks, these cathedrals of the present, give us the illusion of everyone having access to everything. Pure illusion in a selfish time, spent on values and values of misery, in an emptiness that multiplies misfortune.

SHORT CORNERS

Passing corners

in the swift passage

that we turn expectantly to the other side

the square, the street, the changing horizon that surprises us

Corner of time

in the fleeting time

that absorbs the moments of each day

in other days to come

Corner of prayer
in devout prayer

that carries the believer

on the wings of floating realities

Money corner

in the money that is gas

that liberates, intoxicates, brings together, enriches

and separates.

OTHER CORNERS

Corners to go around, to cross

to the other side

Corners of stone, paper, fabric, wood…

some of thought

only

enveloping

others of passage

too.

Corner, point, line, shape

Corner, union, separation, convergence

transition, detour, moment…

poem that

grabs, frees

and throws us to the other side

the other side.

A corner that multiplies

the gaze

now, then, then again

the street, the avenue, the square, the store, the garden, the horizon

a friend, a chance, a discovery, a surprise

a box, two faces

left, right

an edge of time.

Corner food for thought

rhythm, posture, the will to go, go and go beyond

where another corner awaits

the passage

yet another and another

near, far.

Here and there

Beyond.

Corner of the alley to the immensity

of the stars

far, far away

absent by day

luminous at night

radiant

in the sky

sky.

Corners in the catadupa of many

corners of the world

different worlds

diverse and multiple

multiple and surprising
