Exhibition “Não me calo!” | The social life of protest posters

The exhibition “Não me calo!” is currently happening at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE), in the Exhibition Space of Building II. Until June 30th the event will be open to the public.

The initiative brings together posters – produced by hand – which were collected in protest demonstrations both nationally and internationally. There is no specific topic to be fit, but a set of social claims that have taken place in recent years, such as feminism, the environment, and climate changes.

Passeio, in its Gallery, exhibits the essay The social life of protest posters (Pinto-Coelho, 2020), whose objective is to reflect on outdoor advertising, specifically shaped by protest posters, as “an important semiotic resource of the discourse and collective actions of street protest”.

More details about the event are available here.
