Celebração do Desejar – Movimento de Artes e Lugares Comuns [Celebration of Desejar – Movement of Common Arts and Places]

Desejar – Movimento de Artes e Lugares Comuns [Desejar – Movement of Common Arts and Places] is a cultural project that is part of the Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture program. The project will hold the event Celebração do Desejar [Desejar Celebration], from June 10 to 14, proposing a “laboratory and a deepening experience for a cultural democracy”. Bringing together around 60 artists, researchers, activists and almost 800 citizens, the event promotes a collective exercise in creation, sharing and debate around cultural rights and the relationship between art, urban space and the community. More than just as a festival, it is a collaborativa experience that challenges traditional programming models, placing residents at the center of the creative process.

The program is spread across various emblematic and everyday spaces in the city – the Estaleiro da AGERE, gnration, Theatro Circo, Parque da Rodovia, Braga Municipal Market and Escola Básica 2, 3 de Nogueira – and includes open gatherings, travelling performances, workshops, concerts, training sessions and community actions. Initiatives such as the Academia do Desejar [Desejar’s Academia], in which Passeio participates, stand out for promoting critical thinking about ways of making art and experiencing culture, in a movement that aims to activate desires, rebuild ties and rethink ways of being together in the city.
