Pandemic in scale – Street art

In Bristol a giant mural of Alice in Wonderland was created looking out from behind a curtain. The mural made by the artist Stewy was created in an attempt to portray the situation of isolation at home due to the pandemic COVID-19.

The artist, in an interview, mentions that the request was made by a resident of the city and that the work involved exploring the different scales – large and small. “Alice fit in well because the story itself deals with scale, but also with the strangeness of it all.” It is as if everyone becomes an observer when looking at the world.

According to Stewy, the idea of portraying the situation from a personal perspective on a mural is inclusive and can communicate instantly, illuminating the entire area.
