Coronavirus, racism and solidarity
The Guardian publishes video depicting before and after the decree which confined the Italian population in response to growing pandemic COVID-19 in the country. The video shows growing incidences of anti-Chinese racism, but also much-needed acts of solidarity as Italy entered national confinement. Meet Sonia Zhou, manager of a popular Chinese restaurant in Rome’s Chinatown. She was forced to close the store, in part, when people started avoiding the area after the coronavirus outbreak.
